Who we are

Fishes & Loaves Cooperative Ministries is a 501c3 non-profit corporation operating in the Hazelwood community of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We offer programs including Meals on Wheels, Congregate Lunches, Emergency Food and Buying Club for those in need living in Hazelwood, Glenwood, Glen Hazel and most of Greenfield.

our story

Since being founded as a grocery buying club in 2011 by representatives from local churches after the last grocery store in Hazelwood closed its doors, FLCM has evolved into an independent 501(c)3 organization. Hazelwood-Greenfield Meals on Wheels began in 1971 and was always volunteer-run in terms of meal delivery. FLCM adopted the program in 2015. In 2016 FLCM adopted the local Congregate Lunch program, when the YMCA sold its Hazelwood building and a dining room was needed. FLCM also gives fiscal support and helps coordinate the YMCA monthly food distribution in Hazelwood.

Fishes & Loaves uses space in the St. Stephen Catholic Church Pastoral Center for administrative purposes and our Congregate Lunch program.  Our kitchen and food storage is located in the Spartan Community Center.

Fishes & Loaves Cooperative Ministries draws its name from John 6:1-14, and in that spirit, we strive to make food available to any person in need.
